For One Night Only…And A Lifetime Beyond

Last month saw the launch of Sliabh Beagh Arts Little Mountain exhibition in the Higher Bridges Gallery Enniskillen. I’ve been involved with this group of artists for about five years and I’m pleased to say we’ve carried through on all of the most over the top ideas we’ve come up with.

Some of these include working for six months to stage a shadow puppet show in the middle of a woods for one night only, animating and performing in the same woods two years later (another six months) with our newly written follow up story…for one night only, wood carving, weird and wonderful photography, music workshops, pottery, gate weaving (yes, you read that right) and my own power-hose murals.

The Hollowhill All-stars Monsters’ Sports Academy!

Some of you will recognise the name of this monstrous sporting outfit in only the vaguest of senses. That’s because I’ve only had the vaguest idea myself of what it is and I made it up!

The Hollowhill All-stars started out as a springboard (pun most definitely intended) for a series of T-shirts I had in my head. I always thought it would be cool to have teams made up of creatures of the night – vampires, Frankenstein’s monster and his brothers and sisters, werewolves and their ilk, competing in devilish games night after night.

Three teams have taken to the field so far – The Howlin’ Wolfmen, The Fiendish Frankies and The Transylvania Drac Pack with many more to follow in their wake.

DIY or Die

“DIY or die Kev, DIY or die!” That’s what a friend of mine always used to proclaim whenever my band played at punk festivals. More often than not, it was this same man who had organised said gigs so he knew what he was talking about. Well, I took it to heart…

It wasn’t only him who helped instill the DIY mentality in me, my parents are and have always been coming up with inventive and creative ways of getting things done and I grew up realising that the best way to do something is to just DO IT.
